One Can Save?
From today’s “Metropolitan Diary” (my favorite NY Times weekly feature):
Dear Diary:
While waiting for the next shuttle from Times Square to Grand Central, I notice an ad for an international bank. The billboard shows a Joe Six-Pack type on his recliner in front of the television, can of beer in hand, but has an ecological theme. The caption reads, “Recycling one can saves...
A Perfect Day →
Today I had what I consider to be a pretty near perfect day and even thought it’s tempting fate to record it, I feel I must. Slept in and when I woke up at 8:30 in my nice warm bed. Per daily…

Tea Party Leader References Iwo Jima
I had to miss the SOTU & responses tonight due to working late, going out afterward, and then having to work more… so I think I will have to wait for Jon Stewart to explain this to me. Does not compute!
greatestgeneration:
Uh…Michele Bachmann just likened our own US government to the “totalitarian government” of Japan during World War II. She even pointed to a picture of Marines...

Name for New Photo Blog?
Think I’m starting a new Tumblr that’s JUST my own photos. What should I call it? Thinking of using a cool-sounding “band name” or something randomly generated but then I wonder, should I use my name or something instead? Can’t decide.

2000 Followers!
My Deco blog has taken OFF! Whoo hoo!
decoarchitecture:
This time last week this blog had about 200 follows. Today the number broke 2000. After “feeding” this blog for 2-3 months it is so gratifying to see this project taking off, people reblogging, people posting comments, submitting photos, etc. I’ve wanted to do an Art Deco architecture blog for years because there seem to be so few...

Atlanta Storm: Putting It in Perspective
As we grump and moan about this week’s “disastrous” winter storm here in Atlanta, it might do us good to reflect on the DISASTER that struck Haiti a year ago. If our lives were disrupted this week, think about people who suddenly lost everything they had, including family, homes, churches, community, their health, and more. We will get over this storm.

Suicidal Seagull
From Metropolitan Diary, my favorite New York Times feature:
On a balmy fall night, my wife and I saw a seagull strutting up Fifth Avenue.
Suddenly, the bird darted across the street into the rush-hour traffic. I cringed as it avoided the first car, then got clobbered by the second one. Like a punch-drunk fighter, the gull got up and limped toward the fine shops on Madison Avenue.
Unable...

Possibilities
A scrap of autobiographical “fiction” I just found on my hard drive. I like it but don’t think I could pick up the thread at this point.
Sometimes Sarah couldn’t help but see them everywhere: Ways to die. She wasn’t contemplating suicide and in fact had no desire to die – at least not any more desire than anyone else. But when you’re alert to them, possibilities for death loom...
